چکیده

In the present study, a nanoscale Al/CuO thermite system is patterned using multi-material aerosol jet printing technology. Morphological analysis of samples manufactured with different configurations reveal strong effect printhead design on microstructure and degree mixing between constituent materials, providing insight fundamental mechanisms inline aerosol-phase during printing. The high-resolution patterning capability leveraged to fabricate both blended thermites antennas containing nanothermite, which exhibit rapid low-energy ignition upon exposure 2.45 GHz free space electromagnetic field, characterized by an delay ≈130 ms energy ≈216 J. Moreover, versatility this approach demonstrated manufacturing compositionally graded samples, establishing as compelling versatile platform for microscale energetic device fabrication broader utility materials. This work shows promise use technique in situ standalone integrated energetics devices.

A multimaterial electrohydrodynamic jet (E-jet) printing system

Electrohydrodynamic jet (E-jet) printing has emerged as a high-resolution alternative to other forms of direct solution-based fabrication approaches, such as ink-jet printing. This paper discusses the design, integration and operation of a unique E-jet printing platform. The uniqueness lies in the ability to utilize multiple materials in the same overall print-head, thereby enabling increased d...

Aerosol Jet Printing of Miniaturized, Low Power Flexible Micro-Hotplates

We report on printed flexible micro-hotplates operating at high temperature at lower power consμmption than ever reported using aerosol jet printing of fine metallic conductor features. Efficient heating (i.e., 40 mW at 325 °C) was produced by reducing the effective heating area and substrates thickness. Gold (Au) nanoparticles solution was used for printing micro-hotplates of two different siz...

Multimaterial magnetically assisted 3D printing of composite materials

3D printing has become commonplace for the manufacturing of objects with unusual geometries. Recent developments that enabled printing of multiple materials indicate that the technology can potentially offer a much wider design space beyond unusual shaping. Here we show that a new dimension in this design space can be exploited through the control of the orientation of anisotropic particles use...
